The LipiView Ocular Surface Interferometer
The LipiView Ocular Surface Interferometer uses advanced interferometry to view and analyze the tear film, processing 14 million pixels per second, more than a billion data points.
By creating an instrument that can measure the interferometric color units of the tear film, TearScience provides physicians with an innovative tool for capturing, archiving, manipulating, and storing digital images of specular observations of the tear film.
The LipiView’s high definition optics and display based on thin-film interferometry uses a novel diffuse light source to illuminate the tear film surface and subtract ambient light, color, nonspecular light, and noise. This provides a real-time, dynamic view of the tear film for analysis, recording, and report generation.
In addition, TearScience has developed the Meibomian Gland Evaluator for the physician to evaluate meibomian gland secretions using a standardized method with consistent force.
TearScience Engineers
TearScience’s development team is comprised of world-class engineers who have been involved in significant engineering accomplishments such as the repair of the Hubble Telescope and the first real-time 3D medical ultrasound. This high caliber team draws upon science, collaborative problem solving and project management to deliver complex engineering and business management solutions to market.
