LipiView Ocular Surface Interferometer
With the recent introduction of the LipiView, physicians now have a new tool to help them evaluate the tear film in patients with dry eye disease. The LipiView images the tear film via a non-invasive in-office exam that takes less than 5 minutes.
The tear film can be clearly seen as an array of colors that are reflected when a light source is directed towards the front surface of the eye.
The TearScience Meibomian Gland Evaluator allows the physician to evaluate meibomian gland secretions using a standardized method with consistent force.
Treatment
LipiFlow Thermal Pulsation System
Treatment of Evaporative Dry Eye involves opening the blocked eyelid glands by applying a combination of localized heat and pressure therapy. Previous approaches – such as the use of warm compresses – have been inconvenient and of limited effectiveness.
The LipiFlow Thermal Pulsation System is a significant technological shift in evaporative dry eye treatment, effectively relieving blockage of the eyelid glands during an in-office treatment. Opening and clearing blocked eyelid glands allows the body to resume the natural production of lipids (oils) needed for the tear film.
